Reflection: About my Maths Learning in Term 1Reflection: About my Maths Learning in Term 1

It's been 10 weeks that we are in this Maths Classroom... we have covered 3 topics... we have tried a range of learning activities...

Let's recall and reflect ...
  1. Share one or more things that you like about the Maths lessons, and you hope to continue seeing it happening in Term 2?
  2. What are your challenges when learning the concepts and mastering the skills in Chapter 1 & Chapter 2?
  3. Name one or more things that would help you learn better.

  1. I like the teacher the shortcuts taught. I had some difficulty understanding negative and positive numbers and I get confused sometimes. I would like to have more games and discussions with my classmates

  2. The teacher explained very clearly how to do each question and that is one point I like about Maths lessons and I hope that the teacher would help me explain the problems I do not know how to solve in the future. Sometimes I would get mixed up with the distributive, associative and commutative law. I would like to have more fun like doing more group work and activities in the future

  3. I like how my teacher teaches and explains using examples. He would also bother to answer our doubts without haste. I sometimes get confused with the negative and positive numbers. I would like to have more games and discussions for next term's math class

  5. What I like about our math lessons are the different class discussions we have once in a while. I also like the assignments we need to do on the LDs (those that we post on the blog). While going through chapter two, i have some difficulties with the number lines. I also had difficulties solving problems that include negative numbers. I would like to have more discussions in our class during math lessons. Also, sometimes I would feel like I am not practicing enough so I think we can have some more assignments. However sometimes we are too occupied with our projects/work therefore i think online assessments will be the best. I hope this reflection can help a little! :)

  6. I enjoy the Maths Lessons, they are very interesting, our teacher also bothers to explain what we don't understand by repeating what he said all over again. I hope there will be more group work in the Future ^^. I don't find the need to change teachers :)

  9. I like your teaching and the way you get our attention and focus on our work. You will also explain questions which I have doubts with. Overall, I find your lessons quite fun.
In mastering the above mentioned two chapters, I have seemingly no problem with it except for the square and square root.
The lessons are fine except for when the class starts getting crazy over some imaginary character and wastes time. I would like to have written homework rather than online homework because when it's time for revision, I find it quite troublesome to go to different sites to revise. I'd like more hands-on work as well; not those sitting down listening to the teacher explain and explain and nothing is actually going into my head-it may be due to the fact that I'm a kinaesthetic person though...

    AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS YEAH~

  10. I like Mr. Johari's teaching methods and I also like the way he sometimes jokes with us. It helps to lighten the mood. I like the fact that I find it easy to ask questions in class without feeling uncomfortable.
I'd like it if we could have more hands-on activities because I can't sit down, do nothing and listen to the teacher at the same time. I just might fall asleep. Other than that, um... Keep it up Mr. Johari! You Rock! :)

  11. I like Mr Johari's way of teaching as he likes to joke with us but we still can get or work done.
I find it difficult to memorize certain formulas.
I would like it if there were more hands on activities as it still can me a bit boring during lessons.
    Thats about it. Happy Holidays!

  13. I like the maths lesson alot as Mr Johari teaches us short cuts and it is very useful when revising. He interacts with the class actively. He also cracks jokes sometimes but we can still finish our work. I had some problem with the negative and positives and the brackets and the sequence we should do it but after Mr Johari explained to the class a few times and showed us examples, I finally know how to do it. . I want more group debates as it is fun! One more thing that would help me learn better is more hands on activities and maths games so that we could be more actively during the class. Overall, the class is fun and I am always looking forward to it! HAAPY MARCH HOLIDAYS MR JOHARI!

  14. I look forward to discussions and games during Math lessons as they are interesting most of the time.
Challenges I faced were the tough questions on the worksheets and unable to understand the concepts. This causes me having difficulty to do other worksheets.
I would like Mr Johari to have remedial classes for weaker students like me so that we can enjoy Math Lessons more as we understand and have no difficulty doing sums:)

  15. I like the discussions and the activities in class during math lessons and also the way Mr Johari jokes around with us. I also like the shortcuts that Mr Johari teaches because it is very useful. I had some problems with negative and positive numbers but I had no problems after Mr Johari taught us the number lines. I would like more interactive activities in future because sometimes the lesson may be quite boring.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY! :D

  16. I like my maths lessons because my teacher teaches me in a very different ways like debating on a topic and having discussions... Mr Johari always tell us who found this topic or formula which is extra knowledge for me and i think my maths lessons are interesting and i would like Mr johari to still be my teacher..

  17. I like the humor in class and I do hope to see it in Term 2.
Well, the challenges are that the shortcuts can be quite confusing and learning the positive and negatives can be a problem... but it was reduced when I watched some videos that Mr Johari posted on the Maths blog.
I think I can learn better by having slightly more worksheets that are of medium difficulty, ones that are not too easy and not too hard. That way, I can practice and learn without worrying about hard questions and trailing behind the rest of the class.

  18. I like the humor of the classes and I enjoyed the debates. I also like how my teacher taught me shortcuts that even I can understand easily. I used to dislike maths but its much better now and I look forward to maths lesson too. Due to much absence, I am weaker in maths than the rest so, I would like it if my teacher could hold remedial lessons or give out notes. Thank You. :)

  19. I like the way Mr Johari uses different activties to teach and how he explains questions clearly. I don't have many challenges but I hope we can play lesser games and activities so we can focus on the topics more. I hope there can be more explanations as sometimes I don't understand some methods and questions.
