Chapter 4: Algebra... Reading Your Mind

Guess what!? I could read your mind too!
Guess How I Do It!

  1. The computer adds up all the digits in the number that you gave him until only 1 digit is left and subtracts the answer from 9. Example: the answer you gave him is 280, this is what it does: 1) 2+8=10 2) 1+0=1 3) 9-1=8. 4) the number you circled is 8

  2. The computer adds all the digits of number you gave him. He adds the digits of the numbers of what he added. Then he subtracts it from 9.
    Eg:
    you choose 1234
    jumbled up number 3421
minus the smaller number from the bigger number
    3421 - 1234 = 2187
    lets say you circle 1
    you type in 2, 8 and 7
This is what the computer does
    2 + 8 + 7 = 17
    1 + 7 = 8
    9 - 8 = 1
TA DA! There you go ans 1
*Mr Johari I will post the method using algebra when I thought of how to. =)

  3. Here is what i think:
For example i choose the number 8251 or 921
Then i jumble up the number to be 5281 or 291
    I subtract 5281 from 8251 and get 2970
Then i circle 2 and jumble the rest into 79
Then the computer subtracts 9 from the answer, if the answer is more than 9, until the number is not more than 9
    e.g.79-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9=7
Then it takes 9 to minus the answer
    e.g.9-7=2
Which is the number taken away

    or

For example i choose the number 921
Then i jumble up the number to be 291
    I subtract 291 from 921 and get 630
Then I circle 6 and jumble the rest to get 3
Then the computer the answer from nine
    e.g.9-3=6
    Which is the number removed

  4. Example; 8934
    Jumble up; 3948
    8934-3948
    =4986

    Circle 6

    Left with; 498
    4+9+8
    =21
    21: 2+1
    =3
    --> Subtract from 9
    9-3
    =6

    6 is the circled number.

  5. The system adds up all the 3 numbers you give him, adds it up again if its double-digit, and subtracts it by 9.

    Example: 8269
    Jumbled: 6892
    Subtracted: 1377
    Circle: 3
    Add up: 1+7+7 = 15
    Add up: 1+5 = 6
    Subtract: 9 - 6 = 3 (circled number)

  6. By adding the numbers it gets (until it becomes a single digit number), the computer will then subtract the sum from 9.

Example 1 (subtracting 9 from the sum):
My number is 864, I jumble it up to make a new number: 648. I subtract 648 from 864 which gives me 216. Now, I choose a number: 1.
    2 + 6 = 8
    9 - 8 = 1#

    Example 2:
My number is 4652, I jumble it up to make a new number: 5462. I subtract 4652 from 5462 which gives me 810. Now, I choose a number: 8.
    0 + 1 = 1
    9 - 1 = 8#

    Example 3:
My number is 6894, I jumble it up to make a new number: 4698. I subtract 4698 from 6894 which gives me 2196. Now, I choose a number: 6.
    2 + 1 + 9 = 12
    1 + 2 = 3
    9 - 3 = 6#

  7. Add the 3 numbers you typed in then add the digits of the sum from the first equation and subtract the number from 9.
    Example:
    Number: 1234
    Jumbled number: 4321
    Difference: 2997
    Circled number: 7
Sum of 3 numbers typed in: 2+9+9=20
Sum of digits from first answer: 2+0=2
Remove sum from 9: 9-2=7 (circled number)
